Under the Radar is a competition dedicated to young filmmakers, showcasing their work in an internationally recognised film festival. The program encourages young filmmakers to pursue their craft and supports the future stars of cinema – both in front of and behind the camera. Although the St Kilda Film Festival is an open entry competition, it is often difficult for young people to compete against more experienced filmmakers of an older age. This category is solely dedicated to the outstanding work that is being produced by young filmmakers under 21 in Australia.
